How to Not Get Bored of Your Wardrobe

How to Not Get Bored of Your Wardrobe

Someone recently told me that there are two times in your life when you'll be sick of your wardrobe. The first is when you're a missionary. The second is when you're pregnant. For today, we'll just focus on how missionaries can keep their wardrobe interesting when they have limited options.

Mix & Match

Firstly, make sure to bring different combinations. I loved wearing dresses, but those were sometimes difficult to make interesting. Bringing different tops and skirts to mix and match can give you numerous outfit options. Don't just bring one plain black skirt to match with your tops. You'll get bored of that combination really quickly. Bringing different colors and patterns can really make your outfits fun, and it will help boost your mood. Plus, you're now able to switch it up even more with comfy pants!

Cardigans & Jackets

If you're heading somewhere cold, then cardigans are a must have! However, even when you're heading somewhere warm, cardigans can still be nice and provide variety in your wardrobe. And wherever you'll serve, you'll probably need a nice jacket at least once. These fun accessories provide even more options to make an outfit unique!

Accessories

Speaking of accessories, you always need some to spice up that wardrobe! A cute scrunchie or hair bow can provide a great look and a boost of dopamine on those rough days. And don't forget the cute jewelry! Of course, you don't want anything too expensive for your safety, but even a simple stud earring or cute bracelet can do the trick. Socks can even be a fun way to accessorize an outfit, and they'll make your shoes a little more comfortable.

Elders

Don't think I've forgotten the Elders! Truthfully, it is probably a little harder to have variety when you wear a white shirt and tie everyday. But don't underestimate the power of having a couple different colored suits, belts, and shoes to mix things up. And, you can always bring a few different clips and pins for your tie collection (I know you'll have one).

However you choose to add variety to your wardrobe, remember to follow mission dress and appearance standards. And remember this quote from our prophet, President Nelson: "When your greatest desire is to let God prevail, to be part of Israel, so many decisions become easier. So many issues become nonissues! You know how best to groom yourself...You know the kind of person you really want to become."
