Most mission lists now require a pocket flashlight. My personal feeling on this is that not only are these flashlights useful for finding keys, lost items, working your apartment lock in dark hallways, etc. but they are also a security feature. For example, this light is so bright that flashing someone with it at night will temporarily blind them. This also works for dogs. Just don't try it on your companion since it tends to be a little painful, especially if your eyeballs are adjusted to the dark.
This is one of our best selling items for missionaries. It is small and compact with a tough and lightweight aluminum body and 9 ultrabright LED lights. Takes three universal AAA batteries (it does have a set of batteries with it) and the batteries will last about 20 hours in tests that my children have run by leaving the flashlight on one night and we find it the next (although the light does dim with each hour).
